Hoodies

The 2018 club hoodies are being printed during the winter break.  They will be distributed the first week of January.  Thank you for your patience.  (This year's hoodie was designed by Chris Williams.)

2017-2018 Club Details

2017-2018 Club Options:
1. Pay for the three night passes to Nordic Valley, one day/night pass to Powder Mtn., four bus rides, and the club fee (including a hoodie)=$120
2. If you already have a season pass to Nordic Valley (formerly Wolf Mtn.) just pay for the bus rides, the Powder Mtn. pass, and the club fee=$75

3. If you already have a season pass to Powder Mtn. just pay for the three nights to Nordic Valley, the bus fee, and the club fee=$95

FAQs:

Can I join the club if I do not know how to ski or snowboard?
No.  The club is for experienced skiers and snowboarders.  You need to have your own equipment and you need to know how to safely get down the hill.

When are we going?

We are riding THURSDAY nights in January (the 4^th, 11^th, and 25^th), plus we are going for a half day/night on Tuesday, January 16^th.

What do I do with my equipment?

Bring it to school.  Mr. McGaffin will meet students in the foyer on the east side of the gym at 7:45am each day that we are riding. (The room will be locked at 8am SHARP!) 

Mr. Johnson will open the equipment room from 3pm-3:15pm.  Students need to get ready and be outside by 3:25pm.  The bus will pick us up on the east side of the school, directly in front of the gym.  We are leaving at 3:30pm!

Who is in the club?

The first 70 students to complete the application and pay the fee.

When are applications due?

Applications will be accepted on November 30th.  This club sells out, so plan on coming to school early.  The office will open at 7:45am.
Clarification for next year... The office opens at 7:30am.  The line will likely form before the office is open.  Please arrive early and remember you are not allowed to save places for other students.  Each student will receive a number so that we can make sure the integrity of the line is maintained.  If the student arrives after the 70 numbers are passed out we will put them on a waiting list and notify them if a spot becomes available.

Where do I get an application?

Applications will be in the hallway, outside of Mrs. Williams’ classroom.

How do I pay?

Bring your payment to the office.  Once the secretary has recorded the payment the receipt and completed application will be placed in Annie Williams' box.

Can I enter the school at 9pm?

No, we will NOT have access to the school when we return to LJH.  Bring your backpacks and homework with you to Nordic Valley.

How do I get my pass?

The club supervisors will distribute the passes when we arrive at Nordic Valley.

What time do we leave?
Plan on meeting the bus at 8:00pm; we will depart at 8:10pm.

When will we reach LJH?

We should arrive between 8:50 and 9pm.  Your parents need to meet you in front of the LJH gym by 9pm.  *Please tell them that they need to park in the parking lot.  If they park in the red area in front of the school the bus will not be able to enter.

What happens if I get in trouble while waiting for the bus, riding on the bus, or while skiing/snowboarding?

If you get in serious trouble you will immediately be removed from the club.  If you get in minor trouble you will be put on probation and you will be removed if there is a second offense.

2017-2018 Update #3

The dates are set, but I still need to verify hoodie prices before I can take applications.  I am guessing things should be finalized around Thanksgiving.

We are going to Nordic Valley Thursday nights (January 4th, 11th, and 25th) AND we are going to Powder Mountain for a half day/night on January 16th.

2017-2018 Update #2

It's amazing how quickly things can change...  I was just told that we are now allowed to continue with multiple trips. :)
My current plan is to go to Powder Mtn. for a half day/night on Tuesday, January 16th, and to go to Nordic Valley for three nights (either Wednesdays or Thursdays depending on bus availability).  I will update prices and dates ASAP.  Thank you for your support and your patience.


If you are willing to chaperone I need you to commit to at least two nights and you need to provide a replacement chaperone if you cannot attend.  Email me if you are interested.

2017-2018 Update #1

I recently received news that the DSD insurance policy has changed, which has resulted in major changes to our snow sports club.  We are no longer allowed to ski/board four times a year... We are now restricted to one trip.  I am talking to resorts, bus companies, etc. Once I figure out what is the best deal (and the best use of time) I will update the blog and advertise for our club.  Thank you for your patience.  I am sorry for the inconvenience.
