2016-2017 Club Options:
1. Pay for the four night passes, bus, and the club fee (including a hoodie)=$115
2. If you already have a season pass to Nordic Valley (formerly Wolf Mtn.) just pay for the bus rides and the club fee=$55

FAQs:

Can I join the club if I do not know how to ski or snowboard?
No.  The club is for experienced skiers and snowboarders.  You need to have your own equipment and you need to know how to safely get down the hill.

When are we going?

We are riding WEDNESDAY nights in January (the 4^th, 11^th, 18^th, 25^th).

What do I do with my equipment?

Bring it to school.  Mr. McGaffin will meet students in the foyer on the east side of the gym at 7:45am each day that we are riding. (The room will be locked at 8am SHARP!) 

Mr. Johnson will open the equipment room from 3pm-3:15pm.  Students need to get ready and be outside by 3:25pm.  The bus will pick us up on the east side of the school, directly in front of the gym.  We are leaving at 3:30pm!

 

Who is in the club?

The first 75 students to complete the application and pay the fee.

When are applications due?

Applications will be accepted on December 2nd.  This club sells out, so plan on coming to school early.  The office will open at 7:45am.

Where do I get an application?

Applications are in the hallway, outside of Mrs. Williams’ classroom.

How do I pay?

Bring your payment to the office.  Once the secretary has recorded the payment the receipt and completed application will be placed in Annie Williams' box.

Can I enter the school at 9pm?

No, we will NOT have access to the school when we return to LJH.  Bring your backpacks and homework with you to Nordic Valley.

How do I get my pass?

The club supervisors will distribute the passes when we arrive at Nordic Valley.

What time do we leave?
Plan on meeting the bus at 8:00pm; we will depart at 8:10pm.

When will we reach LJH?

We should arrive between 8:50 and 9pm.  Your parents need to meet you in front of the LJH gym by 9pm.  Please tell them that they need to park in the parking lot.  If they park in the red area in front of the school the bus will not be able to enter.

What happens if I get in trouble while waiting for the bus, riding on the bus, or while skiing/snowboarding?

If you get in serious trouble you will immediately be removed from the club.  If you get in minor trouble you will be put on probation and you will be removed if there is a second offense.

I am sorting through dozens of emails in response to my plea for help.  I am making a spreadsheet sorting all of the information.  It looks like I will have eight chaperones each night, so I can take 75 students.  We are going to Nordic Valley Wednesday nights in January.  The fee is $115 (same as last year).  I will put flyers out and make announcements ASAP.  Thank you for all of your support!

We Need Chaperones!

In order to accept the maximum number of students I need more chaperones.  We need eight people each night and I currently have six teachers who are willing to help.  Parents can help if they are willing to go to the district office (in Farmington) and go through the background check.  You will not have to pay the fee; the fee will be covered by LJH.  Chaperones need to ride the bus to/from the resort.  They will receive a free night pass if they would like to ski/board, if they do not want to ski/board they can hang out in the lodge.  If a chaperone covers two nights they will receive a free club hoodie.

I need to know who you are, which student you are related to, how you are related to them, if you are interested in skiing/snowboarding, what night(s) you can cover, etc... If you are covering two or more evenings I need to know your hoodie size (men's S-XL).


The club is going to Nordic Valley every Wednesday night in January. Chaperones need to arrive at LJH by 3:15pm.  We typically return at 8:50pm.

Please respond by Friday, December 2nd.  If we do not have enough chaperones we will only take 60 club members.  (Last year we accepted 80 students and had a few very upset students because they tried to register after the club was full.)


If you cannot chaperone and your son/daughter is willing to work.  I am looking for eight students who will help load/unload the buses.  They need to help the teachers manage the lines and they must load everyone's equipment all four weeks.


If you are a loader or your parent is a chaperone you will not have to wait in the registration line.
